Your Shenzhen Itinerary

Journey Into Mainland China

A Seamless Journey into Mainland China
Your day begins at 9:00 a.m. with pickup from your Hong Kong hotel by private guide and cross-border vehicle.

Instead of navigating public transport, changing vehicles after immigration or working around high-speed-rail timetables, you will travel directly into Shenzhen in comfort. Your private vehicle remains with you throughout the day, helping you make the best use of your time in the city.

During the journey, your guide will introduce Shenzhen’s remarkable story: how it developed from a small community into one of China’s most important centres for technology, manufacturing, business and innovation in just over four decades.

Discover the History of Nantou Ancient Town
Begin your Shenzhen exploration at Nantou Ancient Town, where the city’s historic roots can still be found among restored buildings, old lanes, local shops and creative spaces.

Long before Shenzhen became known for skyscrapers and technology companies, Nantou was an important regional settlement. Today, the area offers a memorable contrast between traditional southern Chinese character and the rapid urban transformation that has shaped modern Shenzhen.

Your guide will share the history of the area as you explore its lanes and discover how old and new Shenzhen exist side by side.

Local Cantonese Cuisine
For lunch, enjoy local Cantonese cuisine in Shenzhen.

Rather than following a fixed menu, your guide can recommend suitable restaurants and dishes on the day according to your group’s preferences. Shenzhen offers plenty of choices, from dim sum and casual local favourites to refined Cantonese dining experiences.

Shop Like a Local in Shenzehn

We’ll explore local markets and shopping malls where the locals shop for food, local goods, and even so-called “knock-offs.” We’ll discover local culinary cultures and sample some classic cuisine-dimsum, hotpot, Sichuan or other local favourites- at spots completely unknown to tourists. Along the way, you’ll be amazed by the impact new technologies and mobile phones have had on life in China-a fact that is prevalent everywhere, from shops to restaurants with the newest trends in mobile technology that effects everyday lives in an assistance to make life easier, some would even call futeristic.

After leaving the suburban shopping areas, we will head to the popular local business area of Futian to get another taste of the local retail environment; shoot up to the 118th floor of the Ping An Financial Centre for a great view of the city seeing every corner of the far distance in 360 degree view on the 4th tallest building in the world. Explore the underground world of one of the biggest underground malls of China where we will find ourselves a range of local famous food outlets for us to get a good taste of China, checking out what’s popular amongst locals and a look into a very unique retail world. Approaching the end of the tour we will head over to the High-Speed Rail station to get back to Hong Kong at 125mph, a true experience today’s China’s travelling speed.

Definitely off the tourist path, this tour of Shenzhen will give you a solid introduction to mainland China and an understanding of cultural differences even within the Chinese race.

GOOD TO KNOW

The majority of foreign passport holders need a visa to enter Shenzhen. A short-stay landing visa is available at the border for many travellers, but please review eligibility here(opens in a new tab) as some countries’ citizens benefit from arranging a full China tourist visa prior to travelling.
